Mele Broomes – Choreographer, Performer:

Glasgow based choreographer, performer, teacher, facilitator and director. Mele originally trained as an artistic gymnast at Southampton Gymnastics. She then redirected her skills in Physical Theatre at Southern Theatre Arts Centre (National Diploma) and thereafter at The Scottish School of Contemporary Dance (B.A Honours Degree). Mele is also a qualified Level 1 Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Coach and Yoga instructor. 

Mele works with multi-disciplinary collaborations influenced and inspired by social politics, crossing the lines between dance, theatre, visual arts and circus. Presented works and collaborations presented at the following; Yorkshire Dance, Riley Theatre, Dancebase, Brighton Fringe, Edinburgh Fringe, Citymoves, The Lemon Tree, Tramway, The Arches, La Caldera amongst others. 

Here most recent projects include Project X. This is new educational and professional development programme, which platforms and champions dance forms within the African Diaspora.Many Studios and Mushroom Hour Half Hour (Experimental Music Imprint from Johannesburg as) part of Connect ZA 2017 programme. Mushroom Hour Half Hour has invited two incredible musicians to Scotland, Sibusile Xaba and Thabang Tabane, to collaborate with 6 UK based musicians to create new work. Work-in-Progress of Grin to be platformed in Montreal in association with Glasgow based art festival Buzz and Cut and Montreal festival OFFTA.
